On May 29, 1953, Tenzing Norgay led
Sir Edmund Hillary's famous expedition to conquer the
summit of Mt. Everest - Chomolungma,
as it is called by the Sherpas. At 29,028 feet, it is the highest
place on earth. Norgay is the only man to have reached the summit
three times. While an elite few have since attained the summit,
the compelling spirit of these early climbers is unparalleled for
the time. No one was hurt, lost or even frostbitten on the trek.
